EVALUATING THE IMPACT OF SOCIAL PROTECTION POLICY ON POVERTY REDUCTIONIN THE RURAL COMMUNITIES IN NORTH EAST DEVELOPMENT OF NIGERIA

Abstract

The study examine social protection have been promulgated and implemented by governments of both the developed and developing countries, they are geared towards the upliftment of their citizenry from poverty lines, this is because most countries in Africa have been plagued by persistent poverty for many generations, and by some accounts, the level of poverty is becoming more widespread and pervasive, the impact of social protection on poverty reduction in most geopolitical zones in Nigeria has not been comprehensively subjected to empirical study. It is against
this background that this study is calculated to empirically evaluate the impact of social protection policy on poverty reduction in the rural communities North East of Nigeria. The findings of this research study shed light on the significant impact of social protection policies on development outcomes in the Nigerian states of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, and Yobe. The analysis focused on three key aspects: farming output, literacy rates, and health care levels. The study revealed a strong positive correlation between the determining factors of social protection policies and the level of health care, indicating the importance of various interventions in improving health care provision in the region.
